A Quick Glimpse: Mr Samuel Hill

Samuel was the brother of my 3x great-grandmother, Hannah Hill. Hannah was, of course, married to my 3x great-grandfather, John Hugh Macvean.

This is Samuel:

I knew next to nothing about Samuel until I started researching information for part two of my posts on the Rooksdale Estate and then I stumbled onto this.

Wow, what a way to go and when you think about it, it was probably a task that Samuel had done a thousand times before with no worries.

Samuel was staying at first with his daughter Margaret Hill and son-in-law, John Hugh Cameron at Howlong and then come out to John and Hannah’s place at Albury where he died.

I was very lucky that on our family visit to Albury Pioneer Cemetery back in 2018, we found Samuel’s resting place. At that stage I didn’t know anything about his story.
